Surrender to the Flow – The Mighty Aharbal Falls

Most people visiting Kashmir prefer going to destinations like Sonamarg, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam. These places are undoubtedly beautiful. But Kashmir is so much more than just these few names. And Aharbal is one such place.

Located in the Kulgam district of J & K, the magnificent Aharbal falls is a 2.5 to 3 hours drive from Srinagar. The waterfall is formed when River Veshaw, a tributary of River Jhelum, falls 25 metres down a narrow rocky gorge of granite boulders. The place is relatively unexplored by tourists.

There is a trail of steps that lead to the waterfall. The entire area is guarded by fences for safety reasons. When you start descending the stairs, you just get a glimpse of small streams of water flowing down. You have to walk down the entire stretch to see the mighty waterfalls in its full flow. The view is breathtaking.

Aharbal should definitely be on top of the list in your Kashmir itinerary.
