On our drive from Ubud to Menjangan, we decided to make a quick stop at a secluded spot that had two hidden waterfalls — the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls. At first, we almost skipped it. The walk down to the base looked long and tiring, and we were already running late. But then we noticed a few locals offering bike rides down to the waterfalls and that instantly changed our minds.
The short five-minute ride through thick greenery and winding trails was such a beautiful experience in itself. The air got cooler, the forest denser, and soon enough, we were dropped off at the base. From there, a short walk led us to one of the most magical spots in Bali.
Two waterfalls stood on either side of us, each with a unique personality. The first one was tall but had only a light flow of water. What made it special was the small cave behind it — we climbed over a few rocks and found ourselves standing behind the waterfall. It was such a surreal feeling, hearing the roar of the water so close and feeling the mist on our faces. We spent nearly 45 minutes here, clicking pictures, making videos, and just soaking in the moment.
The second waterfall, on the other hand, was like something out of a postcard. It cascaded into a natural lagoon surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers. There was a small pool at the base where people were swimming and enjoying the cool water. The atmosphere was lively and bright — a perfect contrast to the quiet charm of the first fall.
Both waterfalls were absolutely stunning and well worth the little adventure down. After spending some time here, we took the bike ride back up, smiling at how glad we were that we didn’t skip this stop.
If you are ever driving from Ubud to North Bali, Banyumala Twin Waterfalls deserves a spot on your itinerary. Hidden deep in nature, it’s one of those places that reminds you just how magical Bali truly is. ✨
