Located at the borders of the states of Nagaland and Manipur in Northeast India, Dzukou Valley is almost 2500 metres above sea level. You can approach the trek from two towns in Nagaland, either Jakhama or Viswema. The route from Viswema is comparatively less strenuous than the Jakhama route. I took the Viswema route to Dzukou. If you leave early, you can return the same day, or you also have the option of camping overnight at Dzukou valley. I stayed at one of the camps up there. It was freezing cold and raining at the same time.
The trek to Dzukou is beautiful, and exhilarating, but first time trekkers might find it a bit difficult. The initial stretch is an uphill climb up the mountain which is the most difficult part of the trek. Once you cross this stretch, the remaining part of the trek is a 2 to 3 hours straight walk through the valley. It is recommended that you hire a guide to take you through the trek.
