Rann Utsav – Colours, Culture and a Whole Lot of Shopping

Rann Utsav is one of the most colourful festivals in India. It is held every year from November to February, and during this time the entire Kutch region comes alive. Resorts and tent cities welcome thousands of visitors, and many packages include sightseeing around Kutch.

What You Can See Around Kutch

Some of the popular places covered in these packages are:

Mandvi Beach
Vijay Vilas Palace
Smritivan Earthquake Museum
Kalo Dungar
Gandhi nu Gaam

In recent years, Dholavira has become a major attraction. Many people visit to see the famous “Road to Heaven,” where water appears on both sides of the road. You can plan a night in Dholavira and combine it with two nights in Dhordo and one night in Bhuj. This is a great way to enjoy everything Rann Utsav has to offer.

Our Stay at Rann Utsav Tent City

We stayed at the Rann Utsav Tent City by Evoke Experiences, and it felt like a small town by itself. There are shopping haats, a meeting hall, a dining area for all meals, a spa, a clubhouse and even adventure activities like paintball and paramotoring.

There are also pottery and lippan art sessions where you can try your hand at the craft. Local artisans display beautiful work—bags, sarees, jackets, stoles, bedsheets and home décor. It is a complete shopping riot for ladies!

Arrival and Welcome

The tent city provides pick-up and drop from Bhuj airport and railway station. The drive takes about 1.5 hours.
There is a big reception area where you check in and can also book add-on experiences like spa, photography, stargazing or a bonfire.

As you enter the tent city, local musicians welcome you with dhol and Kutchi folk songs. They encourage you to dance and join in the festive mood. There are many colourful spots for photos all around the property.

Sunset at the White Desert

In the evening, you can go to the White Desert to watch the sunset. You can choose a camel cart or horse ride to reach the viewpoint. The sunset here is truly magical and something you should not miss.

Final Thoughts

Rann Utsav is a wonderful place to experience Kutchi culture, food and crafts. Whether you enjoy shopping, sightseeing or simply soaking in the atmosphere, it is a trip worth taking.
