There are some places you visit, and then there are places you experience. Maniharon Ka Rasta is definitely an experience.
Tucked away in the old lanes of Jaipur, this vibrant street is a paradise of colours. The moment you enter, you are welcomed by rows of small shops on both sides, each overflowing with bright lac bangles in every shade you can imagine — deep reds, sunshine yellows, emerald greens, royal blues, and delicate pastels. It truly feels like walking through a rainbow.

But what makes this place special is not just the shopping. It is the craft.
Unlike regular markets where you simply buy what is displayed, here you can actually watch the artisans create the bangles right in front of you. The process may look simple, but it carries generations of skill and tradition.

It begins with lac — a natural resin — which is melted and shaped into a solid block. The colours you choose are carefully pressed onto this block and blended beautifully. The artisan then heats the lac over hot coals until it becomes soft and flexible.
Once the material is ready, the magic begins. With steady hands and traditional tools, the artisan rolls the lac to achieve the perfect thickness. Slowly and carefully, it is shaped into a smooth circle. In just a few minutes, you can see a plain piece of lac transform into a vibrant bangle. The final steps include cleaning, polishing, and finishing it to perfection.
Watching this transformation is fascinating. It reminds you that true craftsmanship lies in patience, precision, and passion.
What I loved most was that I could customise my bangles. I chose colours that matched my outfit perfectly. Within minutes, I had a fresh, handmade set created just for me — warm from the process, rich in colour, and full of character.
In a world of mass production, experiences like this feel rare and meaningful. You are not just buying an accessory; you are taking home a piece of Rajasthan’s living tradition.
If you ever visit Jaipur, don’t miss this colourful lane. Walk slowly. Watch the artisans. Choose your colours.
I got mine… will you get yours? 💛
