Sadda Pind – A Colourful Glimpse into Punjabi Village Life🌾🏡

During our visit to Amritsar, one of the places that truly brought Punjab’s culture and traditions alive was Sadda Pind. Located in the heart of the city, this beautifully created village-themed attraction offers visitors a chance to experience the charm of traditional Punjabi life.

The moment we entered, we were greeted by India’s largest charpai (khatiya). Nearby was a unique limousine scooter that could seat six people at a time. As we walked around, we saw an elderly man playing a gramophone, bringing back memories of the past. There was even a hopscotch grid where visitors could relive their childhood and enjoy a simple game.

One of the highlights of Sadda Pind is its food. There were open kitchens serving authentic Punjabi favourites like makki di roti, sarson da saag, and chilled lassi with unlimited refills. The aroma of freshly prepared food added to the village experience. There is also a restaurant serving traditional Punjabi cuisine for those who wish to enjoy a complete cultural experience.

We visited stalls selling beautiful Phulkari embroidery and colourful Punjabi jootis. Visitors can even try their hand at Phulkari embroidery under the guidance of skilled artisans. There were several other interesting activities too, including spinning a charkha, watching puppet shows, and seeing an old-fashioned post office..

The community hall was buzzing with energy as performers danced to lively Punjabi music, while many visitors also joined in the fun.

My favourite part of the visit was dressing up in traditional Punjabi attire. We were draped in vibrant Phulkari dupattas, adorned with maang tikkas, and wore colourful paraandis. For a few moments, we felt like true Punjabi kudis and had a wonderful time clicking photographs.

Another interesting feature of Sadda Pind is that it also offers beautifully decorated rooms for guests who wish to stay overnight and enjoy a more immersive village experience.

Every corner of Sadda Pind reflects the rich heritage of Punjab. The attention to detail makes visitors feel as though they have stepped into a real Punjabi village.

Overall, Sadda Pind offers a wonderful introduction to Punjabi culture, traditions, food, music, and village life. Whether you are visiting Amritsar for the first time or returning to explore more of Punjab, Sadda Pind is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
